Saturday morning, Nathan and his brother Aaron played in a kickball tournament with the El Mirage school district. 15minutes into the first game Nathan, playing 3rd base, turned to catch then throw the ball to the pitcher, and rolled his ankle. It took him. "Walk it off" was the advise he was given. (yes, also by me) The first game wasn't to bad, seeing how loose it was. By the second game it was getting stiff and tight. Three hours later, and still playing-hobnailing on it, he comes home to take a shower and get a good look at it. My first thought was her broke it. "NO NO NO, I can still move it", is what I was told. So on to the couch to put it up and ice it every other hour.

Looks like he is just miserable there!
So this is what it looked like when he got home. I asked him if he wanted to go to Urgent Care, but NO! You really can't tell how swollen it is. But he has no ankle, and not much of a heal it is so swollen. The bruising it was I was worried about the most.
My poor baby!
At 8pm I finally bugged him enough, and then said the right thing, "if you did fracture it or ripe something, and it doesn't heal right you could always have problems with it". Then it was time to go to the hospital. (not the time frame, 12 hrs) Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera to the hospital....wish I had. We were in and out within 2 hours, AMAZING. X-rays were done and they thought he might have chipped part of the bone, but the radiologist didn't make note of it, but he pulled the tendinitis and did some taring causing blood inside the foot. So on went a soft cast. Which is a cast that only covers the calf and the bottom of the foot, and wrapped on with and ace bandage. He was also given crutches, instructions to stay OFF of it, and a note to stay home until Wednesday.
This being my first experience with a cast, I didn't tape the bag well during the shower and got it wet. After trying to blow dry it for...forever, it still got to soft. So, Monday we went to our Family Doctor to have a look at it. The soft cast was taken off, and it was verified that he did chip his bone. The doctor said to wrap it and stay off of it and come back on Thursday, no work on Wednesday. If Nathan puts to much wait on it he could brake it... and end up in a cast for 6 weeks.
So, back on the couch.... poor baby.
This is the ace bandage.
The kids are doing well with it. They want to help, and cuddle with him. Yesterday Owen took a nap with him. Ella is good with getting his ice packs and Bree has her own books for him to read to her.
And they all want to kiss it better.
When we unwrap it tomorrow I will take a picture. It is a lot more black and blue then yesterday.
